How to Mix Colors Online
Use our free color mixer to combine up to 6 colors and preview the result instantly. Choose from 5 blending modes to get the exact shade you need for any creative project.
5 Color Blending Modes Explained
Average blending calculates the midpoint between your selected colours, producing balanced mixes. Additive mixing combines colors the way light works, where overlapping beams trend toward white. Subtractive mixing simulates paint, where combined pigments absorb more light and trend toward darker tones.
Multiply darkens your mix by multiplying normalized RGB values, ideal for creating shadows and depth. Screen does the opposite, lightening colors to produce bright, glowing blends.
Mix Colors for Web Design
Every mixed result outputs a hex code and RGB values you can copy directly into CSS, Tailwind, or any design tool. Use the mixer to generate midpoint tones between brand colors or create smooth transitions for gradients.
Save your favorite mixes to the history panel and build a custom palette without leaving the page. It fits naturally into any web design or UI/UX workflow.
Understanding Color Mixing Theory
Additive mixing is how screens work—red, green, and blue light combine to form every color you see on a monitor. Subtractive mixing is how paint and ink work, where cyan, magenta, and yellow pigments absorb wavelengths to produce new hues. Our mixer lets you experiment with both models side by side so you can predict results whether you are designing for screens or print.
